California's largest urban park, located eight miles from downtown San Diego, Mission Trails Regional Park has 5,800 acres of natural and developed recreational areas. The park is the site of the Old Mission Dam, built to store water for the Mission San Diego de Alcala.
Highlights of the trails are the 360-degree panorama view of San Diego and the Pacific Ocean at the top of Cowles Mountain, the highest point in San Diego, the Old Mission Dam Historic area, Kumeyaay Lake, Lake Murray and the Mission Trails Golf Course.
