Description and Basic Information ::
|
| Famous for its beaches, (all 70 miles of them), San Diego has the warmest ocean waters along the California coastline. The average daytime temperature of 70 degrees makes San Diego an excellent year-round destination with plenty of days for sunning, surfing, snorkeling or just frolicking in the water. Itching to get underwater? Then the turquoise-blue water off the La Jolla coast is the place to go for snorkeling and scuba diving. La Jolla is home to the Underwater Park, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Birch Aquarium at Scripps that overlooks the ocean and presents ocean life in realistic habitats. Want to learn how to surf? Get on over to the San Diego Surfing Academy and sign up for personalized surfing instruction. Wetsuits and surfboards are provided. Ask about the surf trips and oceanfront surf camps for some real hands-on experience to take home with you. With the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop along with perfect weather, no wonder visitors keep coming back for more fun in the sun. |
