| The San Diego Zoo |
Perhaps
the most famous zoo in the world, the San
Diego Zoo is home to over 4,000 rare and
endangered animals representing more than 800
species and subspecies. Two major highlights of the
zoo are Hua Mei and her family of Giant
Pandas, and the Polar Bear Plunge, a 2.2 acre habitat
for Polar Bears. The Zoo is also an accredited
botanical garden with approximately 6,500
species of exotic plants. |

This 150-acre park features five major shows and
dozens of fascinating exhibits that contain marine life from around the
globe. Some of the most popular include Wild Arctic, Penguin Encounter,
Shark Encounter, and Manatee Rescue. Visitors
get the opportunity to pet dolphins, pick up
starfish for closer inspection and, of course,
take in a show from Seaworld’s star
performer, Shamu. |
| Gaslamp
Quarter |
This
16½-block historic neighborhood recreates the
spirit of the19th-century through the
preservation of Victorian-style buildings.
Located in downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp
Quarter is where the city’s food, fun,
culture and entertainment all converge into
one place, offering more than 80 restaurants,
clubs, theaters and galleries. |
